Schloss Loosdorf from the air

Fields, forests, cattle: farming around Schloss Loosdorf

Contents3 sections

Schloss Loosdorf is a pioneer of biodynamic farming. What this means for the landscape around your wedding.

Anyone coming to Loosdorf sees it on the way in: the castle is surrounded by its own fields, forests and cattle. The farm has belonged to the Piatti family since 1834, when it was acquired as part of the Loosdorf estate.

A pioneer of biodynamic farming

The land around the castle has been farmed biodynamically for more than 40 years, which makes the estate one of the pioneers of this kind of farming.

Cycles, sustainability, fertile soil

The focus is on a circular economy, sustainability and soil fertility. A herd of around 60 cattle belongs to the farm; their manure is composted and used as fertiliser for the fields. Lucerne serves as feed and as a natural source of nitrogen for the soil.

  • Coriander
  • Oil pumpkins
  • Popcorn maize
  • Soybeans

A landscape as the setting for your celebration

For couples, this means wide fields for the couple shoot, forests on the horizon and a landscape that is farmed with care. Fittingly, our partner Biohof Riemel from Retz also works biodynamically.
