The first big decision in any wedding planning is the type of ceremony. It shapes the course of the day, the choice of locations and sometimes even the guest list. At Schloss Loosdorf, all three options are possible, each with its own character.
The civil ceremony
In Austria, a civil ceremony is required for a legally valid marriage. It does not have to take place in the register office itself: together with the responsible register office, a ceremony conducted by a registrar can also be planned at a special location, such as the castle courtyard, the French garden or the historic steps. Agree the date and arrangements with the register office as early as possible.
The symbolic ceremony
A symbolic ceremony has no legal effect, but it offers complete freedom: your own words, your own rituals and a ceremony that suits you perfectly. Many couples combine it with an intimate civil ceremony, a few days beforehand or on the same day.
The church wedding
The parish church stands right next to the castle. After Holy Mass, the reception is held in the extensive castle grounds, with no need to move on by car or coach. Arrange the date and requirements for the church wedding with the parish.
“Undisturbed and at peace: the most beautiful day of your life, in a place with a unique history.”
Three planning tips
- First decide whether the legal ceremony should take place on the same day.
- For outdoor ceremonies, always plan an alternative. At Schloss Loosdorf, the ceremony moves into the splendid halls in bad weather.
- Look at the possible locations at the planned time of day: light and shade change their effect considerably.
During a viewing, we will be happy to show you every place at Schloss Loosdorf where you can say “I do”.
